Healthy Banana Bread

Who says desert can’t be healthy? Here’s a special sweet treat I enjoy with a cup of coffee without the guilt!


Recipe as follows…

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 1/2 cups wholemeal flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup walnuts
  •  1/2 cup cooking chocolate [chunks]


  1. Heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Oil a loaf pan.
  3. In a bowl, mash bananas and mix in the maple syrup, canola oil, and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl sift the dry ingredients together, adding the nuts and chocolate last.
  5. Blend the wet and dry mixtures and pour into the loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 42 minutes.
